Olga Malkina was born in 1968 in Nachodka, situated east of Vladivostok (Russia).
At the age of six she started attending piano classes and quite from the start it became clear that she
had a great talent for playing the piano.
After finishing the local music school and music academy, in 1994 she graduated at Kurmangazy Conservatory in Alma Ata (Kazachastan), where she received a certificate stating that she was from
that moment on an Performing Musician.
People such as Prof. Elvira Kirsanova, Michael Balabichev
(both piano), Prof. Alia Karasaeva (organ solo), Prof. Galina Kononenko (soloist accompaniment, vocal
and instrumental) and Prof. Irina Shabynina (chamber music) pertain to Olga’s magnificent staff of
teachers.
In December of 1994 she made a successful organ-tour through Switzerland.
In addition to that she attended different international organ master classes given by maestro Arturo Sacchetti (Vatican, Italy)) and Prof. Christoph Krummacher (Leipzig, Germany).
Since 1995 she lives and works in the Netherlands, where she regularly enjoys being coached by
Prof. Elly Salomé, who is very much respected by professionals.
Olga regularly perfoms as a soloist with various Dutch symphonic orchestras.
Her symphonic repertoire consists not only of the second piano concert in F-flat by Chopin, but also of Mozarts piano concert no. 20 (KV 466), Rachmaninovs second piano concert and Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin.
Her solo repertoire contains works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Liszt, Debussy, Tippett and many others.
She accompanied many soloists and organised successful organ recitals during which pieces by
composers such as Buxtehude, Bach, Widor, Ravanello and Duruflé were performed.
The press does not only praise her for her technical capabilities, but also for her musical sensitivity
and warm, charismatic personality, which adds an intense and individual expression to her performance.
In addition to her solo career she is also active as accompanist for instrumentalists and vocalists for different courses and festivals. Also is she active as a corepetitor at the Merwe’s Oratorium Vereniging,
the Christelijke Oratorium Vereniging Gorinchem and the Koor Pastorale in Gorinchem.
In 2007 Olga and organist Nico Blom performed together during a lunchtime concert for piano and organ in
the
Main Hall of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
Their joint CD ‘Un Sospiro’ has been included in the Dutch TROS Radio Classical Top-50 for the
duration of fiive weeks.
